That is exactly what I did, I created an output file of all those items that needs to be transfered to another warehouse and change the transaction code to reflect the incoming transaction for a new warehouse and use the offline transaction to process them. Quite simple really and easy, just make sure you keep all the records and reports of the transaction offline records for audit purposes.

Hello All

Does anyone have a slick way of transferring items from one warehouse to
another,

without doing all the transactions?

We want to transfer about 1000 or more warehouse items to a new
warehouse.

RPG program?

Thanks in advance

You can use the inventory transaction offline entry to do this.

You know that's what I was thinking off hand... a quick and dirty RPG
program could read the ITEMBL and populate the OFFTRN file then just run
the offline load for IM.

I just did a similar process for importing 14,000 items from a recent
acquisition and it worked very well. I was able to create Item Master,
Item Balance and Product Structure records from an Excel spreadsheet.
The RPG program to load the various TMP files was pretty straight
forward. The MAPICS Inventory Manual could have been a little clearer
but the offline load program prints an edit report for identifying
errors and reducing the amount of garbage you can load into the system.

Hi list. I have was wondering if anyone had any experience writing their own
product structure maintenance routine? We have multiple warehouses in our
system and now we have two people maintaining product structures. The problem
is we only want one person to maintain product structures for one warehouse
and not the other. I have asked Mapics and there is no way to do this in the
PDM (green screen version we are using). Has anyone had any experience writing
their own product structure maintenance routine or any other ideas? I guess my
other option is to modify the Mapics source program. Hope this makes sense.
Thanks

Weston, we create item balance records often by using query to capture
copies of the records in the existing warehouse. Then run that file
into a simple RPG program to change the warehouse and other fields.
Then write the record.

Information contained in the item master file and product structure file
are already established so you just need the new item balance record.

Try something like this:
FC92OUT IP E DISK
F C92OUT KRENAMEX
FITEMBL UF E K DISK A
C*
C IBKEY KLIST
C KFLD ITNBR
C KFLD HOUSE
C*
C MOVE 'C46' HOUSE
C IBKEY CHAINITEMBLMC 95
C *IN95 IFEQ '1'
C Z-ADD0 MOHTQ
C MOVE 'A' ACREC
C Z-ADD0 MALQT
C Z-ADD0 QTSMO
...

...
C Z-ADD0 MPSFA
C Z-ADD0 SALBF
C Z-ADD0 SALAF
C MOVE ' ' LPOWU
C WRITEITEMBLMC 90

We are at XAR4. This works for us.

Greg

EPDM has options to do offline maintenance (add/change/delete), I don't
know if you can do it with PDM

Maybe I am not thinking clearly this morning, but product structure is not
warehouse specific so how will you know that the item they are maintaining
is in their warehouse? Thinking you could check item balance for the
parent would tell you what warehouse it is in. Does sound like you will
have to make changes to the program to do this.
