For the benefit of any of you who aren't subscribed to Midrange-L, I'm
forwarding this little discussion of how I see the lists here operating. If any
of you has any questions or issues about how MAPICS-L is run, please contact me
privately. I think that the people currently participating in discussions here
on MAPICS-L are among the most civil I've ever seen on the 'net, based on our
brief history here - I'm sure y'all will continue to be so! Thank you for your
support.

I'm unsure about the rest of you, but I'm overrun with messages and
emails everyday. Sorry, but if you're sending html in your messages
and/or formatting replies with the "quoted message on top"...I don't
have time to dig through to read it. I'm skipping and deleting all
these messages, unless you've got a REALLY interesting subject line....

-------

Just a brief reinforcement of what Dean said:

1) If you have a procedural or content comment of any sort about any of the
lists here, please send it first via PRIVATE e-mail to that list's moderator.
We're the ones charged with fixing such issues, and USUALLY can do it more
effectively from "behind the scenes". If that makes it sound like we're
despots, so be it - at least we try to be benevolent about it. If you don't
like our responses, then contact David - it's his sandbox that we're all playing
in here, and I think he wants us to play nice.

2) The "quoting style" argument is ancient and pointless. Everyone has a
different preference. Some want it all quote first, some want it all quote
last, some of us mix it up based on whichever seems to be clearer for the
particular point we're making in our replies. The only thing that ticks me off
is when I get a message with more than 2 or 3 copies of the list info at the
bottom - and I get over it about 1 second after I push the Delete key. Skip and
delete any message you want to - posters are exchanging information, not
entertainment or advertising, so the main loss is to you if you miss information
that you could have used.

3) Most important one: LIGHTEN UP!!! Nothing we say or do here is likely to
matter a century from now at 4:45 PM (we'll be doing well if it matters
somewhere next month!), so let's just give and take in a manner that's enjoyable
now. Trust me, we'll all get more out of it.
