        Bob,
I am currently doing a test build on a test environment from
R3 to
        R5. I've run into 2 different issues.

                1) If you have what would be duplicate keys in a new logical
file
MBF9RES4, the ACS apply will stop with a error display stating:" ACS
APPLY ERROR
WHILE REBUILDING MAPICS XA FILES ...... ERROR OCCURRED WHILE
REBUILDING:
MBF9RES4" ...etc I took a F17 BYPASS ERROR but the ACS program went
into a
loop. I did some research on the MAPICS support site and found that
this
problem was reported and supposedly fixed with PTF SH44357, which I
did have
installed as part of the R4 pre-req PTF SH11989.
Support line has opened up a new APAR for this same problem
that
        appears to not yet fixed.
If you want to verify that you're not exposed - write a
query to
        sort the physical MBF9REP by FEAENB(Company #), FEGGNB(Invoice #),
and
FEHYNB(Invoice sequence number). If you find duplicates you'll
need to
address the problem by either deleting the duplicates or do what we
did (We
made the composite key unique by changing the FEHYNB(Invoice
sequence
number) Hopefully most people would not be exposed to this problem,
but we
were because we have invoice and order history on our system since
1983.
(We're too nice to our sales people here).

                2) the other problem I had was - have the license keys from
MAPICS.
The license manager software will not let you proceed past the first
ACSAPPLY. We had to wait days and finally had to expedite the
problem, so I
        could make some progress.

These are the only issues I've had so far - I'm sitting here
waiting
for my ACS Apply to R5 now... It takes a long time if you have a lot
of
order history on-line - like we do.

Good luck and please e-mail if you need help with the
duplicate
Invoice number problem - we have a user program that did get us
around the
problem. But without warranty of any kind (express or implied) of
course!

                Regards,
                Ed Kandel

We're converting from XA R3 to XA R5 this weekend. Are there any
hidden
pitfalls of which we need to be aware? We have all but the last cum
for
R5(released yesterday), and are not aware of any problems. Just
thought a
        final CYA wouldn't hurt.

        Thanks,

        Bob Arnold
