Dunno about the "naming=system," but adding the "libraries=" clause (I'd removed both earlier, because they didn't do anything with the "data set wizard") *did* allow a View that called a scalar UDF to work.

Doesn't look like BIRT can handle UDTFs, but it *does* have an option of using either a Select query or a Stored Procedure query. We've been doing only the former; I haven't a clue how to set up the latter.
