The cancel() is not working either.

I changed the program to run the callablestatment in a different thread
and interupt it if it is taking too long. Once the thread is
interupted, it then call the callableStatement.cancel(). The cancel()
throw a generic sql error (HY0000). In the finally block, the program
did callableStatment.close() it hangs unless I manully end the job that
is running the RPG stored procedure.

Another, the client has no way out.

That is what the developer has tried and it did not work. Now that I
got a chance to look at the code, he is actually trying to set time out
on a sql stored-procedure call. This particular stored-procedure is
written in RPG. I wonder if that is why the setQueryTimeout is not
working.

Lim,
The java.sql.Statement interface has a setQueryTimeout(int seconds)
method. Is that what you're looking for?
