A word of warning. Any hint of fanaticism will damage your cause ;-)

My personal opinion is that the single most valuable property for any Java solution is to ensure that the future maintainers have the full source available for everything that is running in the JVM, even those jars being used.

It is immensely useful that the jt400 library is open source - when people seriously cross compile a Java library to .NET and USE it, something must be more attractive than linking to a DLL...
