I've recreated this issue with a small test program. The problem is that
when you click the "OK" or "Cancel" button on the pop-up window for signing
on, JT400 just makes the dialog box no longer visible. It doesn't close and
dispose of the dialog box.
Had a peek at jt400 version 5.0 since that is what we use (oh the joy of customers).

The class doing the hiding is com.ibm.as400.access.AS400SignonDialogAdapter which unfortunately has the following comment:

// Implements all of the listeners that the PasswordDialog, ChangePasswordDialog, and SignonDialog classes need.

I was looking at whether a revised class could be sneaked in ahead in the classpath, but it will need some more investigation and testing. Oh the joy of legacy code :)

Or we could just cheat and force the AWT-tread to be a daemon.
