Hi
The values for key are going to be hard coded in the
application,
Also i am not sure if i can a custom sort from JDBC
call, i have a process which calls bunch of SQL
statment and just builds a XML file from it.
so i wrote this query and it works
select Field1, Field2,
case
when Field1 = 'a' then '1'
when Field1 = 'c' then '2'
when Field2='d' then '3'
when Field1 ='b' then '4'
end mysort
from table
where Field1 ='a' or Field1='b' or Field1='c' or
Field1='d'
order by mysort

This SQL statements returns me the result set in the
sort i want
Thanks for the suggestion

You really shouldn't do this, or the case statement
as suggested by someone
else. Cuz now you're locked into hardcoding. If
you cannot use another
field, then you should look into the custom sort as
suggested by others.

Hi
I cannot modify the table, can i add this field 2
on
fly to the SQL statment
i have SQL statement like below
select * from table where Field1 = 'a' or
Field1'='c'
or Field1='d' or Field1='b'
So if i can add row number or get the query
without
any sort or order by, then would be a great help

Well, if you don't want to order by a,b,c,d...
then
you are going to need
a different field to sort on that will put it in
the
order you want.

Field1 Field2
a 1
b 4
c 2
d 3

select field1 from file order by field2
