I agree with Dan. Tomcat and MySQL is a great place to start learning about
Java, Servlets, and JSP. I would add though that if you have no experience
of Java then I would hold fire with the web stuff until you understand the
basics of Java and OO. There are plenty of great books out there and one
that I will happily recommend is "Beginning Java Objects" by Jaquie Barker.
It used to be published by Wrox but is now printed by Apress. It assumes no
Java knowledge and will provide you with enough information to enable you to
move onto some more complex stuff when you feel ready.
