I'm running WAS Adv. 3.5.3 and on occasion some or all of my server
instances will lockup. It had been happening regularly early on in our
implementation but it has quieted down (therefore I moved on to other
things). Moving forward, I have two things to look at:
1.) Analyzing the lockup
2.) Creating a way to monitor each server instance (development, test, and
production).
The purpose of this note is for item #2. I have been working with Servers
Alive to monitor various products (Domino, Showcase, etc.) Historically I
was only monitoring port 80 and 900 for WAS. I was wondering a couple of
things:
- what other ports should I monitor for? I've noticed port 500 and 9000
but also am not aware of what each port is actually used for.
- has anybody come up with a way to monitor this from the AS/400 itself?
Typically, WAS jobs look all fat, dumb, and happy when there is a problem.
I'd like to use an internal monitor (AS/400) and an external monitor
(Servers Alive) if possible.
