I just didn't see that filename was defined as an array of String from your
previous post:
private static String
fileName=request.getParameterValues("filename")[0].trim();

Since getParameterValues returns an array, I thought you would have to do
something like: 
private static String[]
fileName=request.getParameterValues("filename")[0].trim();
private static file = fileName[0];

Here's what the spec says:
 java.lang.String[] getParameterValues(java.lang.String name) 
   Returns an array of String objects containing all of the values the given
request parameter has, or null if the parameter does not exist.

Just my 2 cents.
