The Internet Cluster Manager (ICM) is still there, however, we find it
lacking since the URL address for the websites will be the ICM and not the
actual website. Additionally, the ICM runs on a Domino server. This can
be a good or a bad thing. With an IP sprayer type setup, the URL is
always the same and you have a separate device that only directs traffic.

If the applications are for public use, I would probably recommend the IP
sprayer type setup, otherwise, if you can live the limitations, the ICM
does work.

Re: High Availability Solution question

I have had a customer run their production Domino environment on Windows

with a Linux Domino server as the cluster (Domino clustering) and had
that

test out fine.

I would also add that if the applications are web based, that will also
add to the complexity of the solution since that is not handled by
Domino
clustering.

I've implemented a Domino cluster on two Windows boxes that works
well.
Domino clustering is not hardware specific however, an iSeries can
cluster
with another iSeries or with a Linux box or other hardware/OS.

Depending on DASD requirements, a lower cost solution to evaluate the
effectiveness of a Domino cluster might be to configure a Linux box
and
create a cluster with your iSeries.

High Availability Solution question

Hello all,

We have been trying to find a High Availability Solution for our
iSeries

Domino machine.

We have a few domino applications there and we would like to consider
a
solution
So far we only have been able to contemplate the IBM clustering
approach.

Has anyone been able to implement this or other kind of alternative
and
make recomendations.

We would like to perform a swich-over in case of failure and have all
our
users up 24/7

Thanks for your answers
