I too had a similar situation recently. And it had more to do with a
change in our Domain Name Servers. I could ping it from i5 but couldn't
TRACE it from Domino.
First, however, I would check your Server documents, Ports tab, and ensure
that it was using the exact same name in "Net Address" as you are using in
the ping command, including any domain appended. Actually found a few
that had IP addresses instead of names.
You should have multiple DNSs set up. If you have one on the far side of
the comm that is listed first in
CFGTCP, option 12
and when the comm dropped, it started using a local one (which may not
have all names entered in it, etc) then that might be an issue also.

Weird problem

We were having some flakey communications problems with our point to point
microwave ---- now, my Domino server on one side of the point to point
does
not communicate with the other (both running on iSeries).

Message on GENESEO1 server (from a trace command) is:
Unable to connect to mtm1/Livingston County on TCPIP (The
server
is not responding. The server may be down or you may be experiencing
network problems. Contact your system administrator if this problem
persists.)
 Server MTM1 is not responding

MtM is clean on a trace.

I do have connections going back and forth --- I can telnet, connect to
other servers, etc.
I have:
      1.) tell router update config
2.) changed connection docs to push / pull email
3.) nping to both servers (ok)
4.) deleted the mailbox on the MTM1 server and restarted it.

Anybody help????
