As I remember my college economics, a service economy was described then as "taking in each other's laundry." The point was that if we do each other's laundry and pay each other with a million dollar check does that make us millionaires?

One of my takes on this is that we have no service manners,
politeness, or courteous.  Case in point, look at the fast food
bussiness...  I do not enjoy being greeted with a "yea, what ya
want?"   or try to get assisant on a product at a place like Wally
World.   But are we any better within our own consulting services...?

If our factories are shuttered, and the blue-collar folks are out of
work, what need will there be for on-shore tech services? I fear that we are creating an entire generation of people who will never have a meaningful job in their life. We are approaching the time where the major line of business in areas that formerly provided manufacturing jobs is the gang-related drug trade. Look at the south side of Chicago, Newark, Philly, or the Bronx.

I agree...the last time I was in a Mall Wart was last summer, late at

Between 1/3 and 1/2 of China's GDP flows through Wal-Mart.

companies.
China will be a dominant world power in the next 50 years. The

for male children is going to make their society the first in the

the world to be heavily male dominated.  This culture will likely

aggressive and I would not be surprised to see India as a target

aggression.  If the US has heavily invested in India then we will

dragged
into the conflict by these political business bonds.

Recently my client signed a contract with an "off shore company"

Alantic-Sierra for software support on both iseries and Oracle 
software.

Their prices were in the range of $29/hour for off shore people
and 
$100+

for resident people.  I'm still there during the transition phase
but 
expect
to be looking shortly.
