The local help guru here gave me this info. I have no idea if it is
correct or not....

This document addresses many help system problems:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/as400/products/ad/wdt400/archive/v5r1/troubleshootv5r1_enu.html

Also, the following process has helped some customers (versions 4.0 and 5.0
only). In my experience, the netq server doesn't tolerate well multiple
installs/uninstalls of products that use it. Perhaps that's the situation
with some of the classroom machines referred to.

REINSTALLING THE HELP SERVER:
REINSTALLING THE HELP SERVER:

1)get the zip file netqv55.zip from:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/as400/products/ad/wdt400/netq/

2)unzip in a directory and run the setup.exe file

3)choose a directory for the install

4)choose "typical" install

5)complete the install and reboot

6)after rebooting, look for the directory that you chose for the install to
make sure it's there

7)look for the plugins directory for our product. It's in a location like:
X:\WDSC\WSSD\plugins\
-make note of this location

8)open up Notepad. Use File > Open (files of type "all files") and browse
to the directory chosen for the netq install (e.g. X:\IMNNQ*). Open up the
file httpd.cnf. This file may just display as httpd since windows often
hides the .cnf extension.

9)scroll to the bottom of the file. Look for lines like:
DirectoryStrings /dir.m
Exec /cgi-bin/* X:\IMNNQ_NT\*
Pass /icons/* X:\IMNNQ_NT\*

10)After the "Exec /cgi-bin/" line, add a line like:
Pass /plugins/* X:\WDSC\WSSD\plugins\*
Where X: is the drive our product is installed on and ..
\WDSC\WSSD\plugins\* is the location of the plugins directory you made note
of earlier.
The bottom of the file should now look similar to:
DirectoryStrings /dir.m
Exec /cgi-bin/* X:\IMNNQ_NT\*
Pass /plugins/* X:\WDSC\WSSD\plugins\*
Pass /icons/* X:\IMNNQ_NT\*

11)save the file and reboot the system

12)after rebooting, try help. If help is still not working, use "netstat
-a" to look for a port open on 49213.
Try starting the help server manually with the command:
httpdl -r httpd.cnf
Run this command from the X:\IMNN* directory
There's more info about this command at:
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/as400/products/ad/wdt400/archive/v5r1/troubleshootv5r1_enu.html

13)try help again

Subject: Help Problems with WDSc V4

Jon,

I had a similar problem when WDS was installed for me. (I was only the
second person here to take it for a "test drive".) After numerous
reinstalls from our network server that failed to resolve the problem, we
finally tried installing straight from the CD's. That solved the problem.
