Rick:
you didn't mention which iSeries release/version, Windows OS, and
CODE release/version/service pack you were on.
I am not clear on what were in 'this morning' and 'yesterday'? Were you
still working from home/VPN when it was not working?

1. You need at least be in the 'power user group' to start CODE on PC.
2. If you are switching from one network to another, make sure that the
PC's network configuration be reset.
3. Please make sure that a unique *CURLIB is defined in your iSeries
sign-on user profile.
4. STRCODE default port is 4200. Please try
      STRCODE SERVER(BAIRDR) RMTLOCNAME('mypc.ip.address') CMNTYPE(*TCPIP)
PORT(4200)

Best regards,
    Hak

I'm posting this again, because I didn't get a reply the first time.

I would ask the network admins here if I knew what to ask them - they would
just look at me funny if I said i needed the 400 to have access to my
pc....

Can any of you help? I'd really like to start using code, but if I can't
get it to connect to my pc, it's a little tough... ;)

thanks for any help,

Rick

------original message--------
I'm trying to get started again using code, but I'm having trouble getting
STRCODE to work.

Yesterday, I worked from home through a vpn and cable modem and it worked
fine, but this morning i get an error when I run STRCODE.

I've tried both of these commands, and both give me the same error

STRCODE SERVER(BAIRDR) RMTLOCNAME('mypc.ip.address') CMNTYPE(*TCPIP) PORT
(*DFT)
 and
STRCODE SERVER(BAIRDR) RMTLOCNAME(*RESOLVE) CMNTYPE(*TCPIP) PORT(*DFT)

this is the error I'm getting:

Message ID . . . . . . : EVF4000
Date sent . . . . . . : 06/04/03

Message . . . . : A TCP/IP communications error occurred.

Cause . . . . . : A security error occurred on the PC.
- The name of the error is ERR_SYSTEM.
- The name of the function is AdeStartServer.

As I said, everything was fine last night from home. I'm on a Novell
network.

Do I need to set up some kind of administrator authority for my pc? any
ideas?

thanks

Rick
