Right. No problem from the workstation to AS400COM (by name). My PC is not
in the DNS so the iSeries cannot ping it by name, but ping by IP address
works from iSeries to workstation. In any event, I can download, compile,
verify (and refresh the cache) upload and run commands from the Code command
shell with no problems. I would have guessed that a communications error
would mean that none of the above would work.

The only change was me getting an upgrade from Win 98 to Win 2000.

No idea what COMMSOFT is. I suspect it is something from the iSeries side
of the connexion. But it is not in my PC HOSTS file, nor is it in the
iSeries host table.

As I said, all the comms functions work except the events notification
window. Here are my STRCODE settings:

Announce connection: checked
Use TCP/IP DNS: checked
Port number: 4200
Startup sound: *BEEP
Advanced settings: all empty

I followed the instructions in Knowledgebase 27221314
<http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/1ac66549a21402188625680b0002037e/c
0780f063392eb2186256bdc006ed722?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,strcode> but that
didn't work either.

Thanks for your patience, Hak! Code is good enough that I will keep using
it despite having to have a green screen session open to check the
compiles...
