Correction:
WAS 5 Express is NOT free on the iSeries. But it is reasonably priced.

Sorry.

Mark,
In Version 4 of WDSC, it was the first release of RSE and there was
limited support for editing RPG,COBOL and DDS in the eclipse IDE. So
people usually ended up going back to the classic CODE tools. With
Version 5, the eclipse IDE has build in program verification, outline
views (RPG), syntax checking. You will have a truly productive
environment in Eclipse.
Even the classic tools have a number of bugs fixed and should be more
robust.
Then there is all the new WebTooling work and enhancements to WebFacing
and the base WSSD or WSAD has tons more stuff. You are able to work with
either WAS 4 or WAS 5 servers but as a local server or a remote one.
Remember WAS 5 Express is free on the iSeries.
There are tons more features but you should try it yourself. Remember you

are already entitled to it, since you have an RPG compiler on your V5R1
iSeries.

Yes WDSC V5 will work with V5R1. Remember this is client tooling and does

not have much dependency on the iSeries.

Hello. We are currently running Version 4 of Code400. I am hoping
someone
could give me the top reasons for doing the upgrade to the newest version
on
my pc. Also, the System Requirements confuse me. Can I run that version
on
my desktop when we only have V5R1 installed on our iSeries machines? Any
help is appreciated! Thanks!

Mark
