DNS is great because as the administrator you don't have to go around and
update everyone's host table with new definitions.  But for the purposes we
talking here, so you can have multiple server daemons for the same server,
I'd say it doesn't matter.

The gotcha would be when the server's IP address changed (if that's even
likely) and you can't figure out why you can't connect!

Personally I'd put the entries in but I don't work where you do, and don't
know the rules (or the consequences for breaking them) where you work.

PS: I bet those LAN guys have a long list of entries in their hosts files.
Like:

192.168.1.36 jerk
192.168.1.125 babe
192.168.1.42 kingdoofus

You get the idea :)
