WRKSRVTBLE shows the list of port names used by different products, each
port name being assigned a specific port number. In the debugger case the
port name is QDBGSVR assigned to port 3001. The debugger (or any other
product) retrieves its assigned listening port number by calling the
getservbyname() socket api.

So that's what the problem is....Is there a list that shows all the ports
could be used by some IBM program whether or not I have it installed ?

I have been lurking and listening to this conversation. We have a home
grown
socket program that uses port 3001. I guess I will have to move it to
another port !

By default the debugger server attempts to use port 3001.
