Thanks for the info. I'm using GOBACK in the COBOL programs, rather than EXIT PROGRAM. Perhaps that is the problem. If I use EXIT PROGRAM, with the CONTINUE RUN UNIT option, will there be any negative impact when run the set of programs in batch? The CONTINUE RUN UNIT option of is not referenced in the ILE COBOL/400 manual.

No - in fact if this is how you compiled it originally, then you shouldn't
have had a problem.  The way you are using the AG the *CALLLVL option should
not be needed.  The OVR should work just fine.  This may have been a Run
Unit issue.  Take a look at the "CONTINUE RUN UNIT" option of EXIT PROGRAM.
You may need to consider this to deal with Run Unit issues.
