Hi Doug,

You can add this functionality into BPCS programs that don't have it by following the programming standards for BPCS programs that already use SYS603 (the support center should have a 'knowledge base' entry that gives the basics of what you need to update but mainly it is using the correct function key and action code building SYS programs) so they only retrieve the list of authorized function keys and action codes before the panel is displayed.

You also have to then add the required information into the BPCS security objects for that program, and authorize the keys you want displayed to whatever group ID(s) you want to assign to your users. It is a pretty simple thing to change as far as modifications go, and it can definitely be done in a way to agree with the rest of BPCS so you don't have several duplicated display programs with differing function keys shown.

You should not have had to make mods to entirely remove function keys from panels.

Take care,

[BPCS-L] FKey/Action control in ERP Lx

From:

To:
"'BPCS ERP System'" <bpcs-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx>A question for the Lx folks
out there.

In 6.1 we have a limited ability to control access to
function keys and actions in some display programs through the use of
security groups - SYS603.

This ability is not available in some
key places - like ORD700, ORD550 (we've all seen a user release EVERY
open order at one time or another), ORD570 etc.

In ERP Lx has
this functionality been extended to ALL display programs? Or will we be
looking at rolling up the mods we made to remove the function keys we
didn't like?

I've scanned the Net Change documents and can't find it mentioned.

Thanks in advance.
