You can look up items from an account using the Account Inquiry if you know 
the account that you want to investigate.  There is also an inquiry called 
Journal Inquiry that would allow you to look at journals based upon a journal 
source for a period if for example the journal source for an A/P transaction 
was 
AP or something similar.  Additionally you would be able to select journals for 
a range of dates, not just by period.
