Never looked at it in much detail, but our planner says we can't rely on
anything but ILI. We only run INV972 at monthend to synchronize the files,
as it's just not that important to our business to have it perfect every
day. Not much help, but yes, we know it's there. Obviously SSA does, too,
or they wouldn't give us a fix program.

check the inventory relation set-ups. Look at how the facility is configured -
this flag:
 Facility Wide Allocations/Backflushes 0 (1=Yes 0=No)
should be set to 1 to update the IWI record.

For it to work, set the flag to 1, then run inv972. From that point forward
your iwi's should be updated.

To be sure, try to check INV150 transaction definition.
How much busy is Your AS/400?
In our case, when cpu% was near 100, sometime it happened (iwi, iim were not
updated) .

We have had this problem on 6.0, 6.1, 6.4 and 8.0.

The problem we see clearly is that BPCS is designed to run
single-threaded, but we have to run multi-threaded. So two transactions
process the same record at the same time, and the second one updates a
quantity that has not been updated by the first.
We run an audit program every night to identify the out-of
balance conditions. When we find one we run a single-part version of the
month-end synchronization program.
ALMOST always, the ILI record is correct. Once in awhile ILI is
wrong.

Robert,

This is a broad answer to your question, but my limited understanding of FDA
system validation leads me to believe that each company using BPCS (or any
other software for that matter) must validate that system as it applies to
that company's own processes.

Hopefully, several people will be able to give you feedback on how they were
able to achieve this, but if you are looking for a blanket statement that
BPCS is certified for FDA I think you will find it does not exist.

Sorry I cannot give you more than that.

Robert,
Validation (if you are in the Pharma Business) is not enough these days
you have to comply to CFR21 PART 11 guidelines that the FDA published
which basically referring to 3 main points: security, audit trail, elctronic
signatures. each one is dealt differently .
we have done validation of version 6.04 - it a must and it is a long
process ,it has to be done again in every site because ,although the
system is "commonly used"
people make changes to the software, and the setup might be dif.,
can contact me off line for more info if needbe

Hi everyone, I used to think I knew how this works, but now I'm not
sure.

We're running BPCS 4.05CD and some of our items we invoice post to the
wrong GL account. How is this controlled? Is it at the customer, item,
class or type level, some combination of all of them?

The reason this is important for us is we have two types of items we
invoice. One is for the die castings which post to a certain account on
the GL and another for tooling which should post to another account.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank You,
