ASD file is created when the payable is entered. Within the ASD file is
reference to the line number in the APL file.

You are correct there is no date in ASD. The post date, invoice date, etc.
is found in the APH file.

Program ACP900 - Month End File Purge will purge ASD records along with
several other AP file records based on system parameter setting for
retention period and parameters used in ACP900 for reconciled payments or
not. If you look at the help text for ACP900 it does not mention file ASD
however this file was added with BMR 38624.

No purge programs exist for General Ledger files in base BPCS.

Hope this helps.

Mark, thanks for your input, a follow up.

Since it is related to CEA input, is it created when the payable is entered
and as such more related to the APL file? There is no date in the ASD
record, so the only link seems to be back to APH/APL with vendor and
invoice. Also, all records have a record Id of "SD", which begs the
question of when do they become "purgeable", when the underlying payable
goes away, when (if eve)r the ledger entries go away or both? Any thoughts
on that ?

The ASD file is AP Invoice Detail. The ASD file is the major source of
amounts for journal entries in CEA.

We are running full C/S ver 6.1 on an AS/400

What is the ASD file used for? It seems to be related to the AHL and the
ALP, which are "Logged Parables" header and line respectively. We stopped
logging parables over 2 years ago. The AHL and the ALP have less than 100
records each but the ASD has 250K records.

We are looking at creating an AP wide set of purge programs and are trying
to map out where and what each file is used for.

Any help is always appreciated.
