This story seems to keep coming back to this list and still looks more complex
than what it really is. For anyone - which should be everybody, who wants to
have latest database performance AS/400 PTFs (or I'd better say SQL, because
this pack contains all SQL fixes not only performance related) the solution is
quite simple. All that you need to do is to use SNDPTFORD OS/400 command (just
as for ANY other PTF) to order ONE of the following PTF numbers, which depends
on OS/400 release your system is currently running at:

For OS/400 release: PTF# to order:
V3R7M0         SF99100
V4R1M0         SF99101
V4R2M0         SF99102
V4R3M0         SF99103
V4R4M0         SF99104

This way you will get whole pack and do not have to investigate and ask arround
for any performance PTFs you might be missing - you'll get all of them, guarant
eed, together with their pre-reqs and co-reqs. In addition, you'll get ONLY
those that are not already on your system because PTF system at IBM is smart
enough to check for PTFs that are already on your system and will not ship
duplicates. This assumes that you do SNDPTFORD from the system where you really
want to install latest SQL pack. This also means that you should order SF9910x
when you are really planing to apply them, in Canada it takes about 1-2 business
days to get them and in USA, I believe, 3-4 days.
Keep in mind though that list of PTFs in this pack is maintained constantly, so
if you order SF9910x today you might not get the same PTFs as if you ordered
them 1 month ago. If you want to know what is your current SQL Pack level, you
can do that by:

DSPDTAARA SF9910x (where x obviously stands for 0,1,2,3, or 4, based on
your OS/400 release as per above table)

You'll see something like:

                               DISPLAY DATA AREA
                                                             SYSTEM:   MYSYSTEM
 DATA AREA . . . . . . . :   SF99102
   LIBRARY . . . . . . . :     QSYS
 TYPE  . . . . . . . . . :   *CHAR
 LENGTH  . . . . . . . . :   50
 TEXT  . . . . . . . . . :

            VALUE
 OFFSET      *...+....1....+....2....+....3....+....4....+....5
     0      'Group PTF#: SF99102-09  V4R2M0 10/06/1999         '

SF99102-09 above means that this is level 9 of SQL pack for release V4R2M0.
10/06/1999 is the date on which it was cut, i.e. its content was frozen for
shipping. Basically, anybody ordering SF99102 between this date and the date of
the release of the SF99102-10 will get the same list of PTFs that were avaiable
by 10/06/1999. This also means that in some cases you might experience a new SQL
problem even though you already have latest SQL pack, so you call IBM Support
and they give you a SQL PTF which fixes your problem. This would happen if such
PTF was closed after the cut of latest SF9910x and this PTF will be included in
the next pack, but in this case it paid that you called IBM even with latest
SF9910x.

Information on latest available SF9910x-s is can be found on
www.as400service.ibm.com, under folder:

Tech Info & Databases\Preventive Service Planing - PSP\All Group PTFs by Release

or by simply ordering cover letter only (by SNDPTFORD!) for SF9910x.
It is also maintained in famous BPCS-related IBM info APAR II11801.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Please
go to  www.as400service.ibm.com      You can find all the PTF
information there in either the PSP or APAR sections.  I would review
SF98430 or SF98440 depending on your release.  In that doc., there will be
numerous PTF numbers that can be ordered, including the DB PTFs and HIPER
PTF.  These will be delivered on CD.
The numbers off our IBM package ... I am not sure which is the # relevant
to
other BPCS sites to order this OS/400 data base performance upgrade package
which we special ordered IBM PTFs for "data base performance" for our V4R3
mixed
mode ... separate & distinct from the OS/400 "PTF cum" package.
There were several postings about work files that should be cleared when no
one is on BPCS, most of which do not exist on 405 CD.  How about the
following files ... which of them are good to clear when no BPCS users &
which of them are temporary holding areas for data between BPCS job steps
like GJW?
ASW Payments Work File
CJW Labor/Overhead Work File
FRSW01 FRTW01 FRUW01 FRS Work Files
