SUMMARY: 1. Manages IT function, and is accountable for the effective
operation of all IT resources throughout North America, whether AS/400 or
PC-based. 2. Responsible for reliable and efficient AS/400 operations,
including hardware maintenance and repair; BPCS, Lotus Domino, AS/400
operating system, and other software installation, operation, training and
troubleshooting; local and remote terminal communications; and control of
the company's hardware and software assets. 3. Provides regular reports from
the BPCS system to support business operations, and develops ad hoc queries
as requested. Implements modifications to the AS/400 hardware and BPCS
software installations only with the concurrence and under the direction of
corporate IT staff. 4. Supervises PC support activities within company,
including PC and LAN support within St. Louis and support of the field
laptop system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for AS/400 operations within the
division, including system operation and maintenance, job scheduling, system
upgrades, system performance, addition of new users and user security within
BPCS. Primary contact person for resolving local user issues, whether
hardware or software. Maintains a log of user requests, analyzes log to
determine root causes of problems, and implements procedures to permanently
eliminate recurring problems. Coordinates use of corporate IT or external
resources as required to ensure prompt and cost-effective resolution of user
issues. Provides regular reports and ad hoc queries from the BPCS system as
requested. Administers systems and procedures to ensure integrity and
efficient transfer of data between remote users and systems and the AS/400
BPCS database. Provides training to orient new users and to continually
enhance the skills of the existing user community. Responsible for preparing
hardware and software used in training sessions. Responsible for
administrative control of all the IT resources of the company, whether
hardware, software, or operating procedures. Maintains effective working
relationships with external vendors providing hardware and software services
to the company. Manages external consultants and contractors who provide IT
services to the company. Works with the corporate parent's IT staff to
ensure that IT policies are consistently administered; that user manuals and
documentation of procedures are current; that PC usage is in accordance with
corporate guidelines; and that E-Mail and internet access are implemented in
accordance with corporate standards. Provides divisional support for system
modifications being implemented by corporate IT. SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly manages the Senior PC Specialist, and indirectly
the PC Help Desk Coordinator and the Computer Operator. Manages the IT
function through his direct reports. Carries out managerial responsibilities
in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding
and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems.

deadlines QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or
ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable
individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in IT or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience with AS/400 operations and AS/400 Command
Language (CL); 2 years BPCS and RPG programming experience; and sufficient
familiarity with PC hardware and software including Lotus Notes and
Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Windows to provide users with support in
interactions between PC's and the AS/400. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Strong
mathematical skills and ability to reason logically. OTHER SKILLS AND
ABILITIES: Good understanding of PC-based systems and remote communications.
Understanding of ERP manufacturing systems and general ledger, cost and
other computer-based accounting systems.
