What protocol is it using? HTTP? Proprietary?

If it's HTTP it's most likely using Basic Authentication.
With this you base64 encode the userid and password in the
headers.

My GETURI tool does this. www.bvstools.com/geturi.html. I
know Scott Klement also has his HTTP API that I'm pretty
sure does basic authentication as well.

If it's a proprietary protocol then you'll need to ask the
server team how to send the userid and password.
