But, in this cause it's NOT the customer who needs to change.   It's the
vendor who has his DNS and hostname set up wrong.

The customer may have upgraded to software that is more fussy about what
it accepts, but if the vendor were set up properly in the first place, the
problem wouldn't have arisen.
