Can you create a field in a subfile that shows a sequence # (like RRN)
without increment that number in the RPG?
My situation is this I have a load all subfile with 400 records with only 4
displayable on the screen at any time. The subfile is a blank entry file
with just headings and input fields. The users sometimes hit page down one
or two time two many and enter their stuff but the program does not do a
READC it does a chain and read combo and what happens it the stuff that was
typed, erroneously, a few pages two low get cleared. Initially what I
would like to do is have a line sequence number displayed so they can tell
the difference in the screens and then go redesign this beast to work
correctly.

I have tried to define the RRN in the subfile but just shows blanks.

It's not the destination that counts in life it's the journey. The journey
with the people we love is all that really matters. Such a simple truth so
easily forgotten.
