Here's something by Tony about PASE' chroot -
http://yips.idevcloud.com/wiki/index.php/PASE/CHROOT

That was helpful, Vern. Tony's explanation included:

"Chroot is a function commonly found in UNIX and Linux operating systems."

"Preventing malicious users from exploiting vulnerabilities in the daemons
or services running on these platforms is chroot’s primary goal."

Tony admits that "vulnerabilities" exist in the daemons running under *nix.
In my experience, you don't necessarily have to be "malicious" to cause
something to "break".

Please don't interpret this as me being against *nix environments. They
have a place.
