Scott,

I could not agree more that I have been very confused during this process.
Perhaps I have been given too much information that I mis-mashed up. I am in
the process now of selecting which direction to go. The original intention
was to place the files on the ifs for reprinting later in the day and then
removing after manifesting. Now that I at least have a proof of concept, I
have a luxury of not being in a crunch.

Thank you for all your excellent help and information.

Lynn,

If you are using *USERASCII, then I don't understand why you are translating
the data to EBCDIC. Surely, *USERASCII is intended for ASCII data?? Also,
why are you checking for line feeds? (Which is a similar issue.)

I think you're confusing two techniques. These are alternatives, and should
not be combined:

1) Translate to EBCDIC, split into lines (by finding line feeds), send to an
*SCS spooled file, one line on each record.

-or-

2) Leave it in ASCII. Send it to a *USERASCII spooled file, as it's
original raw data.

Both will work. #1 has the advantage that you can display it's contents in
WRKSPLF, but #2 is easier to code, and there's less that can go wrong with
it.

But nothing comes out of the printer.

Lynn,

Is that is ascii or ebcdic?
It must be in ebcdic if you are using an outq.
If you send it directly to the 105SL using a socket, it must be ascii.
I do this all the time to 105SLs.

This is the contents of my text file. It is a UPS label string
generated by UPS. I am printing to a Zebra 105SL.

Hello Lynn

What is the content of the file, you send to the zebra-printer? What
is the model of the zebra-printer?

Best regards

Jan

Hello all again,

I am having an issue with a printer file I create as *userascii goes
to the printer and disappears. I am reading a text file from the
IFS,(I can open the file and see my ZPL font), I read the stream
file, parse out the line feeds, write to qsysprt.

Printer file gets created, cannot open as it is *userascii. When
released it simply disappears and nothing prints.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
