Dirk - for QShell, you can find a lot of information at IBM's InfoCenter for IBM i - the 7.1 InfoCenter has it here -

IBM i 7.1 Information Center > Programming > Shells and utilities

It is basically a command line interface and set of utilities that are like Unix' shells, like ksh and csh and bash, etc.

Notice the "like" - it IS different in some of the details from other shells.
