Maurice, I do not think that phrase means what you think it means.

"The term /cognitive dissonance/ is used to describe the feeling of discomfort that results from holding two conflicting beliefs."

I'm saying that if I need native hardware support in a mobile device, I'll use Android as my hardware platform, much as I would choose Wintel for a desktop or IBM i for a server. Others might choose differently, but there's isn't a shred of cognitive dissonance. I find the limitations of the Apple development environment to be so egregious that I would rather miss out on a market segment than write code for Apple devices.

No conflict at all. :)

Are you suffering from Cognitive Dissonance?

Actually, I'm pretty solidly opposed to writing native applications for
iOS. If an application requires cross-platform support, I'll stick with
a browser-based technique (like the PhoneGap technology Henrik spoke
of). But if I need to take advantage of the native hardware, I'll write
it for Android. I personally don't want to waste any time on jumping
through Apple's hoops. That's MY New Year's Resolution :).
