Wow, that's a troubling move by part of the ASF, although maybe it was
somewhat predictable, as Sun never got around to really defining Java as an
Open Source language and, of course, Oracle wasn't to let go one of Sun's
most important assets...

I think that, as IBM did put a lot of its development's eggs in Java's
basket, their attitude seems to has been a little ostrich-like (head in sand
- "this won't affect me") . Check out this developer works article:

wonder if this will make Oracle "harden" its stance regarding Java, aid its

Does anybody know if IBM has issued formal statements of how they are
surviving the Oracle purchase of Java/Sun? And then of course there is the
Oracle suit against Google's Android usage of Java:

I do enough Java programming that I am definitely concerned about where
things are going. Not that another language couldn't just pop up and start
taking ownership.
