Is an FTP server installed in Pase by default? Could it be that you don't
have an FTP server running in PASE? Also, the permissions on your
wp-content directory could be giving you issues, I would check those. Its
not considered safe to have wp-content left open with any write
permissions, so make sure that they didn't get changed.

FTP

Hi Pete,

If I am not mistaken the Akismet comes with the base install so that is
probably why you haven't come across this before.

Aaron,

Hmmm. Same issue on my i (6.1) but I don't recall how I got the Akismet
plugin installed initially. When I went to update it just now, I got
the login prompt for FTP and it eventually died in any case. Looking at
the folders, PETE has *RWX and *ALL authority. *PUBLIC is *EXCLUDE.
QTMHHTTP isn't even mentioned.... But the plugins folder has the same
authority including QTMHHTTP having *RWX and *ALL. Curious.

I recall having issues before with updaters and plugins on i. Perhaps
that PHP list at Zend has some pointers?

Hi all,

I was able to get WordPress up and running on my IBM i with relative
ease
and now I want to install additional plugins. The issue is that if
the
user
profile used by the currently running script doesn't have access to
the
folder where the plugin is going to be installed, then it will prompt
you
for FTP login information.

Here is an article that talks about the issue:

http://hecode.com/why-wordpress-asks-for-connection-info-when-i-try-to-install-new-plugin/

In the article then recommend creating a simple php script with the
following:

echo exec('whoami');

I did that, and it is executing successfully (no ZendServer error logs
or
warnings) but it returns blanks, so that doesn't help. I have even
gone
as
far as giving *PUBLIC all authority to the entire directory structure
with
the following command (running V6R1):

CHGAUT OBJ('/www/zendsvr') USER(*PUBLIC) DTAAUT(*RWX) OBJAUT(*ALL)
SUBTREE(*ALL)

Still no go.

Anybody else resolve this?
