We use CGIDEV2, I am also currently looking at plugging XML4PR into the
synon model. As we are starting to get into requirements where we need to
insert nodes into the start of the documents a the end of the processing as
well as validate the document against a schema.

Its pretty horrible to use a first but once you have wrappered the methods
it gets simpler.

Maybee you should take a look at my little tool (based on CGIDEV2)

You find it under powerEXT Core RPGLE Ex and on the download

No, I'm just writing out text. A java application transforms that to real
xml. In future (i don't know when) we will be using cgidev to write the
xml directly from the rpg program.

I believe that you are not processing any of this in RPG, is
that correct?

correct.

Someone suggested having a schema for your XML - that seems
an important step for you, since it will help ensure that
your XML document is valid.

we don't use dtd or schema at the moment, which might prove
to be a bad
idea, but at the moment, I don't need it. It's me who writes
the rpg that
writes the xml that is used by the xsl. So I can do what I
want! I just
wanted to be sure I was doing it right.

I'm having a lot of fun with eclipse and oxygen xml editor.
The editor
will show me if the xml is incorrectly formed.

I know nothing about XSL-FO - just looked it up and found
information and tutorial at w3schools.com - if you have not
gone to that site, it is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Yes I've been there often. It's amazing what xsl can do, and
I'm always in
need of help to do it.

That's good enough for me. So
