Her netbook actually came last week. No problem there.

Regarding Chrome OS, it appears to do more than the current version of Chrome browser. In one demo, they plugged a USB drive into the netbook, which launched a file browser in the Web browser. Then when the user clicked on the Excel spreadsheet, a browser application from Microsoft was launched to view it. No need to install Microsoft Office or Open Office on the netbook. We're seeing more Web applications handling more complex workloads.

Nathan.

Hows about shopping for your wife's present (a netbook) a bit earlier
<smile>

No egg nog for me alas, let alone with lemon in it!

Hi Maurice,

Did someone secretly squeeze lemon into your egg nog? <smile>

Yes, this is old news. I must have been living in a cave the past 6 months.
It was kind of in my peripheral vision, but it came to the forefront last
week. Then I noticed a couple new articles in the news this week. I
thought it might be interesting.

Nathan.

While shopping for a netbook computer for my wife, I came across Google's
work on an OS which is designed nearly exclusively for the browser:

Hi Nathan

I'm feeling particularly unseasonable here (again as usual) but don't you
read old fashioned magazines (this is not new news)?

And is this really Web enabling the AS/400?
