How about using SQL in your Net.Data macro? You can create an HTML page
with the text boxes (or radio buttons, drop downs, etc) asking the user for
the required filters and then use that to run your SQL. We have been doing
this for years, and it works well. If you would like to see it in action,
go to www.leonhenryinc.com then select Management from the menu at the top,
and Data Cards from the list that is displayed. This will call a Net.Data
macro that asks for program type and subtype, category, and/or name, and
then display a list of those records in the database that meet the criteria.

filters

Please respond to

"How often is the 173000 record file updated, is it at any time or is it
an extract file that is created perhaps once a day?"
===>The file is refreshed once a day (7:00AM)

"How many columns does the file have and what is the approx total size (
in MB ) on disk?"
===>Resides on the iSeries, it will have approx 20MB and 9 pair of
elements, meaning that I need 18 filters.

Would you consider using a technology other than RPG ( which you say you
don't want to use ) and net.data?
===>We can't go there for the moment.

Even if that solution was Microsoft ASP.NET and the solution ( plus the
coding ) was provided FOC?"
===>We do not have local programmers that are exposed to ASp.NET... yet.

Thanks for your help Maurice!
