I had all of my domains registered at Network Solutions for a while (back in 1995-1998) and they are outrageous in pricing. They rely on the fact that GoDaddy and others aren't as recognizable a name.

The interesting thing is that they WILL offer to lower their rates if you tell them that you are switching. Basically saying, we are willing to extort money from you until you complain and then we'll lower our price. It is an unethical, but common business practice that I abhor and so I won't do business with them any more. I have one last domain registered with them but I think GoDaddy will transfer an existing registration and honor the existing expiration IIRC.

The only caveat I remember is that Netsol doesn't allow a transfer in the final 30 days of the registration or they make it very painful if that is the case but that may have been from my experience years ago.

Network Solutions wants $35 to renew my domain name for 1 year, while GoDaddy offers a 3 year renewal for the same price. What gives? Why is Network Solutions triple the cost?

What would it take to have Network Solutions to give up the registration, and go with "Daddy"?

Nathan.
