I thought it was standard to also include on the search criteria the number
of results you'd like to see per page. I always do, but I normally default
it to 20 or 30.

I agree I dislike this too. Unless I'm able to narrow the search more. For
example on ebay when I'm buying something I like to view the feedback. They
did add where you can view 200 per page (if you look for it) but I'd like to
see more. When I see 1 or 2 bad reviews those are the ones I want to see.

It is a client search screen and for some reason
they didn't want to implement it using paging.

God bless 'em. If I'm searching for something it annoys me to no end
that I have to page through 15 pages to find it because some developer
decided I should only see 20 items at a time. If you want to set an
(high) upper limit, I'm ok w/that, make me be more specific on my
search, but please don't make me page.
