Visual Age RPG used to do this, but to Windows, not HTML. It was pretty reliable. I mention this because the experience was universal with everyone I knew that did it. The results are just not usable. DDS screens are built for the cycle, GUI screens are built for event-driven design. Nothing fits, colors are a mash, F-keys are clumsy, and menus just plain suck.

The experiences were just awful for the users and an embarrassment for the programmer.

(That is just opinion of course, but my reaction is that there are good reasons that no one has built the tool you are looking for. )

All I want to do is convert screens to html (or xhtml) forms. The
backend programming will be handcoded. I'm just looking for a way to
avoid manually coding the screen field. Software that would convert the
screens would give me a good headstart.

Convert what kind of DDS to what kind of HTML?
