Do you read the lists, Mike? There are vocal members of this list who insist that Java is too difficult.
I think Java is like the Universe - regardless how hard you look in any direction there is no end to it! Just more and more stars, galaxies, galaxy clusters etc.

That is a major reason that Java is difficult - the curriculum is enormeous :)

The anti-Java bias is clear on these lists, and the anti-EGL bias even clearer. It's been noticed in the broader community.
