I'm all too well aware of the non-standard issues in IE. :) My point
was, you should be writing code to look specifically for the support (or
lack thereof) of the functionality you need, not looking to see that
it's a browser that support (or doesn't support) what you need. That
way, for example, if you have a version of Gecko that supports ActiveX
ou can use ActiveX, even if the browser it FF.

I can't see why you would ever care what the remote browser is. I can
see caring about what it supports, but not what it is.
