Here is a sample of code I use to fill a "SelectOneMenu" dropdown for
delivery methods the user can select in a shopping basket checkout process.
As you can see I am using a SelectItem object.

public List getDelivermethodSOM() throws HibernateException {
List dmList = Delivermethod.getActiveList();
List som = new Vector();
Iterator iter = dmList.iterator();
Delivermethod dm;
som.add(new SelectItem(new Integer(0), "--select--"));
while (iter.hasNext()) {
dm = (Delivermethod) iter.next();
som.add(new SelectItem(dm.getUid(), dom.getName()));
}
return som;
}

I am guessing you are specifying a string for the first parm of a new
SelectItem object.

That is not the case. The dropdown box I want to be in the record list is

in any choice.
