That sounds very cool. I had thought about using your FTPAPI to do the transfers. I was interested in running a couple of FTP "threads" at a time. I did not get much of a chance to work on it, so I threw a simple FTP script at it. I did use your cl wrappers for reading the IFS directory to populate the image catalog, thanks again for those.

If you need a beta(?) tester let me know. I have access to a v5r4 and v5r3 system and am always downloading PTF's.

I recently developed a similar utility (at least, it's similar if I look at your screen shot -- I didnt' download the SAVF). Mine's based on a version of FTPAPI that I haven't released yet... so I didn't release my tool, either. But I plan to release it as part of FTPAPI.

A few features that yours might not (or might?) have:

a) It shows the download progress as a *DIAG message in the job log, so at any time, you can view the job log and see how the download is proceeding.

b) It checks for errors, and if anything goes wrong, it re-connects and resumes the download where it left off. So if you get disconnected after downloading 600 MB of a 650 MB CD image, it will resume where it left off, and you don't have to re-download the 600MB.

It's pretty cool, and works well for me, but hasn't had much testing yet.

If you are using the FTP option, I have a set of programs that make it pretty easy to accomplish.

Have a look at my GETiPTF utility:
