Raul,

The IP address isn't used in getting a certificate but there are some settings that are very important to get correct. The Common Name is the host name for the server, Organization is your company name, Locality is the name of the city of your company head quarters, State is the state or province for your company head quarters, and Country is the country of your company head quarters.

Also, if this is only going to be an internal system, you could use create a self-signed certificate. You'll need to distribute the CA certificate for the self-signed certificate (this gets created when you set it up initially) to everyone who accesses the system or they will get an SSL error displayed in their browser.

It's been a while since I did a brand new SSL certificate with VeriSign but I think there's an IBM HTTP server option that you need to choose when picking a server type.

Subject: [WEB400] SSL in Apache (iSeries)

I'm planning to set up a secure server, so I'm reading the manuals an
contacting Verisign (is the only one in Paraguay). Their support has no
experience with AS/400, but if necesary I expect to contact other level.

I got to import a trial certificate, and looking at the sample in the
"HTTP manual" I noticed that the virtual server has a "real" IP address.
Our AS has an internal addres (192.168.x.x), can I use that, or do I
need the real address?

TIA.
