A 170 would run at the speed of molasses. Any other machine would involve
more money, which he doesn't want to spend, as well as his having to make
sure the machine is always available, backed up, etc. I could host the site
on our machine, but that is not the business that I want to be in.

I don't understand why, the job is only open an tcp port....

maybe your best option is find an cheap old 170 and rent the service
yourself, too complex for an single customer.
