I think (not sure, I have never done this) you can then assign it.
From the book:
http://www.uni-kassel.de/hrz/manuals/db2/Net.Data.Library/dtwr1m27.htm#IDX11
13

Specify the value of this variable using a DEFINE statement or with the
@DTW_ASSIGN() function.

@DTW_ASSIGN(DTW_EDIT_CODES "JJLJJ*******Y")

As long as it is right before the select statement of the SQL, it should
work.

Craig

That works - but then how can I do editing on other "screens" with
another file's data displayed?

Try
%Define {
DTW_EDIT_CODES="YYY"
%}

I always set them up in the beginning of the macro.

I thought that was what the * meant. I should not need it if I am only
selecting the 3 numeric fields in the SQL statement, right?

I have JUST SQL read in a record with 3 numeric (date) fields, and am
trying to edit the fields to display as 2007/02/21 format.

I am using this: @DTW_assign(DTW_EDIT_CODES "YYY")

However, I get this error: NET.DATA Error: An incorrect symbol (") was
encountered at line 47 of file
Is there a better way to EDIT fields?
