This is actually what we have now. The first box went from a 50S to a
720 to a single processor 840 partition. You will need memory and DASD
for the new partition which on some models can be more than a little
520.

And if you don't want to buy two systems this can easily be done via
LPARs:

Firewall -- LPAR1:web iSeries -- Firewall* -- LPAR2:production iSeries

* Firewall could be a software firewall running on a 3rd LPAR running
Linux.
